On 10 February, Fir Tree College marked Safer Internet Day 2026 by starting important conversations about staying safe online in an increasingly digital world.
With AI technology now playing a growing role in everyday life, students were encouraged to think about how to use the internet safely, responsibly, and respectfully. The focus this year highlighted practical tips to help protect personal information, recognise reliable sources, and make informed choices when using online tools and platforms.
Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to remind students and families that staying safe online is a shared responsibility. By building awareness and confidence, we can help everyone enjoy the benefits of technology while reducing potential risks.
It was positive to see students engaging with these messages and reflecting on how they can support their own online safety, as well as that of others.
