We were delighted to welcome Jessica and Melissa from The Girls Club for a brilliant afternoon of conversation, connection, and community spirit here at Fir Tree College.
The session created a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together and simply talk. Everyone shared their hobbies, interests, feelings, what brightens their day, and the places they consider their safe spaces. It was fantastic to see students opening up, listening to one another, and finding common ground.
Jessica and Melissa also spoke about the amazing volunteer work they do with girls across the Wigan community — from getting involved in Christmas markets to supporting netball clubs and creating safe, supportive spaces where girls can meet new friends and truly be themselves.
The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and full of positive energy, and it was clear just how much our students valued having this space to connect.
A huge thank you to Jessica and Melissa for visiting Fir Tree College and sharing the inspiring work of The Girls Club. We’re so grateful for the experience and look forward to future opportunities to work together!
